Our Authors Study Club

Founded on February 14, 1945, by Vassie D. Wright and Terminal Annex postal employees, Our Authors Study Club of Los Angeles (OASC) was chartered by Dr. Carter G. Woodson as the Los Angeles branch of the Association for the Study of African American Life and History (ASALH), founders of Black History Month. A civic leader in cultural preservation, OASC launched early citywide celebrations and continues to advance scholarship, education, and public programming honoring African American history.
