Feasts of Reason

Feasts of Reason brings together two thoughtful people who see an interesting question differently, not to stage a debate or declare a winner, but to find out where and why their thinking diverges. Guests make a genuine effort to describe the other person's position fairly before criticizing it. The goal isn't agreement. It's disagreement with understanding. 

We typically close by asking if the conversation has caused anyone to think differently. Maybe someone's conclusion changed; perhaps confidence shifted a little or a weakness became clearer. The main goal is for each person to understand the other's reasoning better. 

Passionate disagreement is welcome. Curiosity, good humor, and a willingness to listen make for the best episodes.
