Nautical Nerd: Maritime Archaeology

Welcome to Nautical Nerd: Maritime Archaeology, a podcast I launched to share my research beyond academia and bring maritime history and archaeology to listeners around the world. On this channel I combine historical storytelling with updates on current research, real world case studies and interviews with experts from universities, cultural resource management firms, and federal agencies such as NOAA. A central aim of the show is to guide aspiring nautical archaeologists through this specialized field. Drawing on my own journey of logging over one hundred scientific dives and completing my dissertation, I ask guests to share practical tips on building core skills, preparing for graduate school, and planning a successful career in maritime archaeology. Other episodes focus on shipwrecks, underwater sites, and unique artifacts to illustrate why preserving our shared maritime heritage matters today.
