Nerone Superbo: A New Neoclassical Opera

Who says that writing opera in a traditional tonal style is out of date?

The ugly atonality of "modern" opera is neither modern, since it dates back to the early 1900s, nor can it hold a candle to the magnificent soundscapes created by the old masters. No wonder that the pretentiously academic operas composed today, often with lavish public grants, remain unloved by the broad public.

So I've decided to write my own neoclassical opera with an original libretto in Italian. My only nod to fashion will be to make the pacing more terse, as in a film. The subject: The Roman Emperor Nero, the mad tyrant who fancied himself a great artist. I'll be posting excerpts as my work progresses. So subscribe to my channel to stay abreast! I invite your feedback & support. Note that the pieces presented are still rough demos. I am open to commissions.

Yours,
