Manuel Rosenberg Artist

I’m Anita Rosenberg, great-niece of artist, illustrator, journalist, author, and publisher Manuel Rosenberg.

On a rainy New York day in 2016, I discovered Uncle Manuel’s archive at Columbia University.

In the 1920s, he was a journalist and artist who sketched almost every famous personality of his time—from statesmen and soldiers to chorus girls and criminals. He knew and sketched every American president from Theodore Roosevelt to Dwight D. Eisenhower. During the first three decades of the twentieth century, he had audiences with kings, popes, and dictators across Europe. In 1929, he was among the first American newsmen to travel through and report from Russia.

Join me as I share the remarkable stories of Uncle Manuel—a pioneer and trailblazer with a front-row seat to history.
