Mabel's Comfort Shoes Diaries

Welcome to Mabel Walks, the world's gentlest travel companion. Follow Mabel, 72, as she walks the world at her own pace, and walk along at home with her, on a treadmill, a walking pad or around the living room.

Mabel's quest: 50 countries before her 73rd birthday, and 1,000,000 steps on our channel step counter. Each walk is an easy 3,000-8,000 steps.

On every walk: a surprising fact about the place, how the locals say hello, two or three places with their stories, and Mabel's Shoe Note, one practical shoe lesson that walk taught her. Then you help choose where she walks next.

New walk every morning, US Eastern time.
