MASS-SPECC Cooperative Development Center

MASS-SPECC Cooperative Development Center stands as Mindanao’s oldest and largest regional co-op federation in the Philippines. With a rich history spanning over five decades, MASS-SPECC has played a pivotal role in the growth and development of co-operatives across the region.

Established in 1966 as the Southern Philippines Educational Cooperative Center (SPECC), the federation emerged from the realization that co-op development stems from co-operative education. As parish-based credit unions organized themselves into co-ops, they recognized the need for support services and representation, leading to the formation of the Mindanao Alliance of Self-Help Societies (MASS). 

Eventually, both organizations merged to become MASS-SPECC in 1984, fostering a strong co-op movement that has thrived for over 5 decades.
