Life Aboard Petra

Life aboard a hundred-year-old Dutch barge: slow river living, unfolding history and the stories in between.

Petra is a Dutch Luxemotor barge, built in 1923 in Papendrecht, Netherlands. She spent her early decades working the Dutch waterways as a cargo vessel before her hold was converted into a home in the 1980s.

This channel is a slow, unhurried look at life aboard Petra: the ongoing work of keeping a century-old barge shipshape, the rhythm of the river, and the search into her pre-war past. An unhurried and honest look at what it means to live somewhere with this much history beneath your feet.

If you love old boats, slow living and the nature that surrounds us, welcome aboard.
