The friends of Claude Duboscq

Claude Duboscq (1897-1938)

Claude Duboscq was a French musician who studied at the Schola Cantorum with Vincent d'Indy. Among his contemporaries, he was an admirer of Erik Satie, Gabriel Fauré and Maurice Ravel.

A brilliant pianist, he composed many musical poems for song and piano at a young age between 1915 and 1920, then all the works for solo piano between 1917 and 1919.

From 1920, he devoted himself mainly to religious music: Cantiques, Psalms, Années liturgiques d'orgue.

In 1926, he created the Théâtre du Bourdon, a "theatre of greenery" and popular culture.

After 'Divertissement Sacré' and 'Parentage', he created the mystical drama 'Colombe la Petite' (1930), which was revived in 1934. After laying the foundations of a theatre school and facing serious family conflicts, he died prematurely in 1938 at the age of 40.
