Lcud Tel Aviv University

The mission of the Laboratory for Contemporary Urban Design is to develop research and methodology that target urban dilemmas as a means of fostering a more humanistic habitation of cities, worldwide. Projects of LCUD will include identifying new approaches to contemporary globalization, increased poverty and urbanization, refugee displacement, and spatial dilemmas such as those driven by conflicts over territories and resources -- all of which profoundly threaten the quality and way of life in cities of the 21st century. The fundamental contribution of this lab is pragmatic: to create new planning and strategic models for the re-envisioning of cities in Israel and beyond.
