Jonathan Borchardt

Songs written as text and rendered in the browser: dark ambient, orchestral score, industrial rock, acoustic guitar duels, rave and 90s techno.

Every track here is a text file. A song is written in a small musical language of parts, sections and twelve axes like density, brightness, weight and space, so a phrase such as "darker and more spacious" can move it. Nothing is recorded in a DAW. The notes are written by hand, the mix is set by measurement, and the whole song is rendered in a web browser.

Most of the code and the songs were written by coding agents working from a written spec.

The videos are not screen recordings. Each one is generated from its song: every hit in the music drives the animation, and the visual world is chosen from the song's own musical features.
