It takes a Village Foundation

Millions of children worldwide grow up in institutional care, such as orphanages or children's homes, but could thrive in a family with the right support. We raise awareness about the importance of every child growing up in a safe, loving family and preventing unnecessary family separation. We also train institutions on how to reintegrate children into families.

In September 2024, we changed our name from ‘Dutch Tanzania Foundation’ to ‘It Takes a Village Foundation.’ Why? While we began in Tanzania, we expanded to work with institutions in other countries like Kenya and Nepal, and our chairperson Monique now gives presentations and trainings globally.

Our new name reflects our vision: raising children is not just a parent's job—it takes the entire community, from teachers to neighbors to grandparents. Together, we can ensure children grow up in a family setting where they belong.
