introduction to sunlight

introduction to sunlight is set in mud, a town where the sun never shines and family doesn’t exist. brimming with black faces, mud is powered by a culture of competition and performance, never care. 

there is no ownership, no legacy, and the sole currency in mud is attention. the amplified moments here are the only things they have to offer… enjoy them.

the first words to introduction to sunlight were written over 10 years ago, inspired by the radiant history of black art, particularly hip-hop, and my fight to understand the flippant disregard for humanity in the face of identity or commerce.

it’s no minstrel show, just a world where the stakes are low. but when a speck of light emerges in mud, it’s impossible to ignore its glow.
