The name “In The Mental” reclaims a term once used derogatorily in Newfoundland to describe mental institutions. Historically, being “In The Mental” meant carrying a stigma. Today, the podcast turns that stigma into a positive by acknowledging the complex realities of modern life. With the pervasive negativity of social media and toxic influences affecting us all, it’s time to recognize that we are “In The Mental”—and to start talking about it.
