Igugu-lethu Arts and Leadership Project

Igugu-lethu Arts and Leadership Project is a South African–based non-profit organisation from the township of Gugulethu in Cape Town, South Africa. The term ‘Igugu-lethu’ means ‘our pride’ and forms the foundation of our ideals and vision—to be an arts organisation that is aimed at bringing pride back into black townships by using dance as a catalyst for positive impact.

In a community that is plagued with societal issues, we use the arts, mainly through dance classes as well as English development classes, mentorship, and life skills programmes, as a catalyst to minimise and, where possible, avoid the challenges that affect the youth in black townships.

We are an organisation that advocates for the importance of education and cultivating the desire for educational and artistic excellence in our learners.
