IBC International Bariatric Club

The International Bariatric Club (IBC): Born in the Cleveland Clinic, grown by the world and matured at the University of Oxford. [Prof Tomasz Rogula, Founder IBC]

Founded in 2008 at the Cleveland Clinic Ohio, it began as an effort to broadcast medical presentations online. It quickly expanded globally, attracting surgeons from many countries.

By 2010, the IBC launched a dedicated Facebook page, which grew to over 6,000 members worldwide. Between 2011 and 2015, the organization hosted highly successful satellite symposia at the IFSO World Congresses and various national conferences.

The biggest breakthrough occurred in 2018 with the launch of the First IBC-Oxford University World Congress at Christ Church. Following its success, a second accredited congress was held in 2019, receiving endorsements from the Dalai Lama and the Brazilian Society of Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery (SBCBM). 

Ultimately, a small idea evolved into a premier global online education tool.
