Exploring the process of turning poetry into song lyrics is often referred to as "lyricization". However, this term is not commonly used and might not be widely recognized outside of specific literary or musical circles. More generally, the adaptation of poetry into song lyrics can simply be described as "setting poetry to music" or "musical adaptation."

In some contexts, when poetry is adapted into song form, the result may also be called a "poetic song" or "art song," particularly in classical music. When this process involves substantial changes to fit the music, it may be referred to as "paraphrasing" or "lyrical adaptation."
