Hewey and Binnie

Welcome to the Free-Range Farmstead! 🌙

The Adventures of Hewey the Helicopter & Binnie the Beagle: stories from the Free-Range Farmstead in Waima, Aotearoa, New Zealand, for children aged 3 to 8 and the grown-ups who read with them.

Hewey is a little yellow helicopter who once believed he wasn't good enough, until a kind beagle named Binnie showed him that being small is not the same as being no good. Together with Farmer Jim, Mema the magnolia and all the friends of the Farmstead, they share stories about kindness, courage, friendship and belonging.
