GoneMaps

Villages drowned under reservoirs. Coasts the sea took one street at a time. Lakes that dried up within one lifetime. Towns emptied by armies, poison or mines — and whole countries that vanished off the map.

GoneMaps tells the true stories of places that disappeared, shown on the real terrain: the water rising and falling to its real levels, satellite then-and-now, old maps, archive photos and real footage.

Every episode answers three questions: what was there, who decided it had to go, and what is left today.

Did you see one of these places before it vanished? Tell us in the comments — your memories make the next episodes.
