Gari-On: Garifuna Onward

Gari-On is short for Garifuna Onward, an initiative developed to promote the Garifuna Language and inspire more people, especially young people to learn and speak the language. 

Garifuna are a people of Carib and Arawak origins who were exiled from St. Vincent in the West Indies to the island of Baliceaux. In search of a better life they moved and settled along the shores of Belize, Nicaragua, Honduras and Guatemala. Garifuna Settlement Day is celebrated in Belize on November 19th. 

Gari-On develops creative ways to preserve, promote and inspire more people to learn the Garifuna Language, especially young people. Gari-On's moto: Garifuna Language for today and tomorrow.
