Friends of the Lost Coast

Founded by a group of community-minded nature lovers in 2000, Friends of the Lost Coast originally partnered with the King Range National Conservation Area to bring interpretive information about the local Lost Coast region Conservation Lands to the public. From these humble beginnings, FOLC has since grown to include many more partners and programs, including the Lost Coast Environmental Education Resource, Summer Adventure Camp, Lost Coast Trail Stewards & Trailhead Hosts, the Shelter Cove Adopt-A Beach program, native plant garden work parties/plant sales/workshops at the Lost Coast Education Center, citizen-science programs like the Stranded Marine Mammal Monitoring Program and Lost Coast Phenology Project, Shelter Cove & Sinkyone workdays/invasive removals, summer hikes, the Lost Coast Lectures series, and popular annual events like Earth Day, Natural Science Day, and National Public Lands Day.
