Frank Licsko: A Lifetime In Painting

Frank Licsko has spent over six decades devoted to painting, guided not by academic tradition or prevailing trends, but by a sustained commitment to observation, discipline, and meaning.

His work develops from a belief that art must offer more than visual appeal— hold attention over time, revealing the essential rather than immediate.

His life long approach has become increasingly focused: not on adding, but on removing—paring away what is unnecessary until the work arrives at a point of clarity and inevitability.

The resulting paintings often move beyond direct representation. Figures, landscapes, and symbolic elements are brought together to explore states of tension, reflection, and encounter—moments where the visible and the internal meet.

Working independently for over 67 years, Licsko has developed a body of work that remains consistent in its intent: to create paintings not simply seen, but lived with—works that continue to unfold rather than resolve at a glance.
