Entrust & The Landfill Communities Fund (LCF)

The Landfill Communities Fund (LCF) is a scheme in England & Northern Ireland that allows landfill operators to contribute a portion of their landfill tax (currently up to 5.3%) to support community and environmental projects in the areas where they operate.

The LCF has been in operation since 1996 and has provided over £1.6 billion in funding to more than 60,000 projects across the UK. These projects have included community centres, parks, sports facilities, and environmental initiatives such as recycling schemes, wildlife conservation, and habitat restoration.

Since Entrust was appointed as regulator of the LCF in 1996, we have worked hard to ensure that all funding is spent in compliance with the Regulations—effectively ensuring that the monies provided are only spent on worthwhile causes. We also provide helpful guidance and support to help stakeholders deliver high-quality projects that meet the needs of their communities and the environment.
