The EU Delegation in Strasbourg represents the interests of the Union and its 27 Member States in the Council of Europe. The Delegation contributes to common European positions taken with the Council of Europe and ensures the best possible coordination between the two organisations. In particular, the Head and other members of the Delegation regularly participate in meetings of the Minister's Deputies and its rapporteur groups.

The European Union and the Council of Europe work together to promote and protect human rights, democratic values and the rule of law. Cooperation between the EU and the Council of Europe is based on complementarity, coherence and added value.
