Dr. Martin Karp, Dean of Student Services

Martin Karp has dedicated more than 30 years to education as a teacher, leader, and policymaker. He earned degrees from the University of Miami in Educational Leadership (Ed.D., M.Ed., B.B.A.) and from Syracuse University in Communications and Business. His career began in the classroom, where he developed innovative programs, including a public-private gifted partnership, and served as an ESE Chair. Beyond teaching, he produced WKDZ Kids’ World, an educational TV show. From 2004 to 2020, he served four terms on the Miami-Dade County School Board, championing policies like later high school start times, vaping education, and expanded gifted services. His community involvement includes decades of Scouting leadership, animal welfare education, and service on the WLRN Community Advisory Board.
