Hi, I’m David Winnard, a North Wales naturalist, forager and wildlife educator behind Discover the Wild. This channel is dedicated to exploring and documenting the wildlife, landscapes and hidden natural history of North Wales and beyond.

Through real field adventures, I share encounters with everything from rare plants, fungi and moths to seabirds, lichens and the overlooked species living right on our doorstep. Along the way, I aim to make nature more accessible by sharing identification tips, wildlife recording stories, conservation insights and the excitement of discovering new species and places.

From mountain walks in Eryri to industrial estates full of unexpected wildlife, the focus is always on looking closer and appreciating the wild world around us.
