Cynical Magic

Honest, slightly cynical takes on Magic: The Gathering — from someone who actually had to learn it the hard way.

Cynical Magic is a Magic: The Gathering channel for people who love the game but are tired of pretending everything about it is perfect.

I cover MTG from the perspective of someone who came in as a complete outsider: honest product breakdowns, beginner guides that don't assume you were born knowing the jargon, reviews of sets and sealed products, and the occasional rant about prices, power creep, and the maze Wizards calls "getting started."

No gatekeeping. No fanboy filter. Just real opinions on what's worth your money, what isn't, and how to actually start playing in 2026 without losing your mind (or your wallet).

New to Magic? Start here. Been playing for years? Stick around — you'll probably nod and groan in equal measure.
