McKenna Cycling Type 1 Diabetes

I've been chasing dreams and speed on a bike for as long as I can remember. I started riding before I could walk. At age 7, I began racing cyclocross and other disciplines (MTB, road, crits). At 12, I discovered the velodrome and everything clicked. I knew this was where I wanted to focus.

I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at age 6, which adds extra challenges to training and competing; but it has also taught me discipline, adaptability, and focus. I've learned to monitor my blood sugar, optimize nutrition, and stay composed under pressure -- skills that make me a stronger athlete both on and off the bike.

Currently I'm training full-time in LA with the USA National Team. In 2026 I will also be racing with Star Track, a US-based UCI  trade team. Living, training, and racing at this level comes with significant expenses.
