Curious Detour

Curious Detour is a playful storytelling show about the strange choices, familiar traditions, and unexpectedly human stories hiding in everyday life.

Why did John Glenn turn down a Corvette and drive a tiny German car? Why do graduates celebrate the future dressed like medieval scholars? And with nearly unlimited entertainment at our fingertips, why are we still perfectly content to sit around staring at a fire?

Each episode begins with something that seems odd, outdated, or slightly ridiculous and follows the story through history, culture, invention, and human behavior.

But the real destination isn’t trivia. It’s people—their ambitions, rituals, ingenuity, stubbornness, and wonderfully complicated reasons for doing the things they do.

Sometimes the answer is funny. Sometimes it is surprising. Occasionally, it is unexpectedly moving.

Every detour should leave you with a better story than the one we started with.

A little wiser. And smiling.

Welcome aboard.
