Cultural Bae

I met the love of my life, and he is Angolan/Portuguese.

Everything is so different, the food, the language, the dancing, damn a whole new culture.

Coming from a typical colored household where we don’t even drink in front of our parents, I now have a father in law that can’t wait to fill up my wine glass during lunch (I am definitely not complaining). I can’t dance! I am that friend you will always find sitting on the chair moving my body to the music, BUT will never dare to stand up to dance. I have been trying to learn Portuguese for two years, yet I can’t say a word out loud. I am so afraid I will pronounce it wrong and end up embarrassing myself.

However, somewhere along the line my perspective changed. I fell in love, not only with the man but with his culture and now I am knee deep into this.

So watch me learn a new language, get use to a completely new way of doing things and opening myself up to fall flat down on my face.

love
