Creating a Play-Friendly Community With Children

This research was carried out by Silvia Veiga-Seijo (occupational therapist, PhD student) with 17 children. The aim was to understand children's and community members' perspectives for developing a play-friendly community in a neighbourhood labelled as deprived in Scotland. In this community-based participatory ethnographic research,  children decided to create a puppet show and two songs to convey their perspectives about play and advocate for making their community a better place to play for everyone. An introductory video is also presented. The supervisors of this research are Dr. Sarah Kantartzis (Queen Margaret University, Scotland) and Prof. Jeanne Jackson (University College Cork, Ireland).
