County Westmeath / Contae na hIarmhí – DJP 🎙️☘️

The name Westmeath comes from the Irish "An Iarmhí", which means "the western middle" or "west of the middle."

Historically, the area was part of the medieval Gaelic Kingdom of Mide, which was the central province of Ireland. In 1542, the old kingdom was divided by the English administration into two counties: Meath (to the east) and Westmeath (to the west), hence the name.
