The Castle Players Barnard Castle

The Castle Players is a community drama group based in Barnard Castle, County Durham. Since establishing in the late 1980s, The Castle Players has become one of the region’s leading non-professional theatre companies.

Since 1989 we have been delighting audiences with our large outdoor summer productions, gaining a reputation for providing high quality, enjoyable and accessible theatre. Unaffected by the constraints of professional theatre, we stage productions on a massive scale. Come rain or shine the productions are magical and memorable events.

Each year we "build" a magical outdoor theatre in the grounds of the Bowes Museum, Barnard Castle. Our specially constructed open-air theatre has comfortable tiered seating and ground mat places.

Our winter shows are many and varied. These winter productions tour Teesdale and the surrounding area, in local village halls, community centres and pubs. Shows such as Dracula Re-Vamped!, The Importance of Being Earnest and The 39 Steps.
