Capricore

Capricore is an alternative rock band that pulls influence from their kiwiana surroundings whilst also completely reconstructing and opposing it. They are a breath of fresh air in the Auckland industry. Sick to death of mediocrity, Capricore sought out extremes in their sound and performance. Theatrical while remaining authentic – they take the piss out of themselves (and their country) yet they’re also dead serious – they’re both infectiously commercial and brazenly experimental. This insistent juxtaposition in their music makes for an intense, exciting experience, like a bunch of clowns with hand grenades. Their style has been praised by critics as genre defying, delivering a rich blend of post-punk, alternative, and pop-rock flavour.

Capricore's single J.A.F.A made it to #1 on the Hot Aotearoa Single charts, with their next single Don't Shank Me reaching #4. Their newest single Smile is out now on all streaming platforms, seeing the band take a goth-esque and glam influence.
