Canterbury Railway Society Inc

Welcome to the Canterbury Railway Society & Ferrymead Railways official Youtube Channel!

Our collection started in 1964 with the intent to preserve, restore and present for public enjoyment a wide range of Heritage Railway Equipment. Since then we have certainly achieved this!

We operate:
The oldest operational Steam Locomotive in the country - F 13 Peveril from 1872
The oldest operational New Zealand Built Steam Locomotive in the country - D 140 from 1887.
Diesel-Mechanical Vulcan Railcars
1500V DC Electric Locomotives and Electric Multiple Unit being the only heritage group in the country to do so!

Check out our website for more information or better yet, come for a ride and support us!

We are based within Ferrymead Heritage Park in Christchurch, New Zealand.
