Commonwealth of Reason: Commission on Spending

Does a heat pump actually save money? Is the premium model worth it? When does an investment really pay for itself?

The Commonwealth of Reason's Commission on Sensible Expenditure investigates the economics of everyday decisions.

From home improvements and energy costs to consumer products and questionable savings claims, we examine the evidence, challenge conventional wisdom, and calculate what things actually cost.

Each investigation is entered into the public record, supported by research, independent analysis, and verifiable sources.

The Commonwealth is fictional. The research is real.

All matters thoroughly considered.
