The Free Beit Midrash

We are a group that studies the Hebrew Bible and the classical Jewish Tradition, and we are guided by a rationalist view of the world, in the critical interpretation of all traditional content and we seek to promote free thought and the emancipation of human beings.

The ideas presented in this study group are collections of diverse thinkers, teachers, rabbis and secular philosophers, whose material is translated, elucidated and clarified by me, Moreh (professor) Alberto Bentzion. I have studied the Jewish tradition for over 20 years. I studied at Yeshiva Ietev Lev of Satmar Hasidim (London, UK) and having already been, ultra-orthodox haredi, strict dati religious, I emancipated myself from the authoritarian system of thought.

But, I am not a rabbi, nor a guru, nor do I claim to have "magical powers" nor do I lie about "mysteries of Kabbalah".

We are then rationalists or Realists. Reason is the means of investigating life = Reality is the barometer of truth.
