Build Well U Cafe

Welcome to Build Well U Cafe–the real–time story of building Well U: A Hospitality Destination in University City, Missouri.

We're Diarra and James, two University City graduates working to restore a historic 1920 neighborhood building and develop the surrounding property into a destination for food, hospitality, events, overnight accommodations, business, and community connection.

Here, we'll share the journey behind the vision–from planning, construction, and design to zoning, funding, setbacks, major decisions, and the wins that keep us moving forward. You'll get an honest, behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to build something meaningful from the ground up.

This is about more than opening a cafe. It's about investing in the neighborhood that helped shape us and creating something rooted in service, hospitality, and opportunity.
