Borrowed Numbers

Why do so many cultures mourn for forty days? Why eight glasses of water, ten thousand steps, a dozen eggs? Borrowed Numbers traces where the numbers in our lives come from.

Each episode takes one number and follows it everywhere it shows up: in calendars and faiths, old measures and modern habits, language and superstition. Then it answers the real question: why this number?

We trace, we don't debunk. And no numerology: numbers don't do anything by themselves. We explain why people chose them.
