Black to the Drawing Board

Black to the Drawing Board is an educational platform exploring architecture, design justice, and the experiences of Black students and professionals in the built environment. Hosted by Daya Irene Taylor, Ph.D., AIA, NOMA—licensed architect, educator, and policy scholar—the channel offers clear, culturally grounded insights on how design shapes our communities.

Through focused commentary and accessible deep dives, the platform invites everyone—Black, Brown, White, global majority, and all allies—to understand architecture through a lens that centers justice, rigor, and shared humanity.

Here, Black students are affirmed, aspiring architects gain transparency, and educators and practitioners discover what it means to design with integrity.
