Before Proof

Welcome! ◾️

Before Proof is built on a single, deeply held conviction: that mathematics is not merely a collection of results to be received, but a living discipline to be discovered.

Too often, mathematics is taught as a finished edifice, theorems stated, proofs presented, definitions handed down without context or motivation. Students are asked to admire the architecture without ever witnessing the construction. This platform exists to change that.

Here, formal mathematics is presented not as a finished product, but through the gradual emergence of the ideas that made it possible. The aim is to illuminate not only why a technique works or what a definition entails, but the creative process that led to a proof, the false starts, the intuitions, the moments of clarity, and how definitions arise naturally as theory develops.

Lectures, problem-solving, written resources, and longer mathematical explorations will continue to be added here as the project develops.
