Aviation Photography For The Rest Of Us

Do you love aviation and enjoy photography, but don't have—or don't want to spend—the money on professional camera gear and editing software? You're in the right place.

I've been photographing aircraft for more than a decade, mostly at airshows, using everything from smartphones and compact cameras to borrowed DSLRs and my own slightly-used Canon DSLR. I've captured some “lightning in a bottle” shots—and plenty that make me wonder what went wrong! So like many of you, I'm still learning the craft!

Here I'll share what I've learned about aviation photography and videography: composition, camera settings, timing, technique, editing, affordable and used gear, and getting the most from what you already have.

The goal isn't the most expensive camera. It's becoming better at seeing and capturing the shot.

Above all, this page is about THE LOVE OF AVIATION. Whether you're a seasoned enthusiast or just getting started, welcome aboard!
