Ashonté S. Lyles is a published writer, blogger, poet, spoken word artist, and freelance columnist. Her heart is in poetry and flash fiction, creating stories from her life and those around her. She is also the voice behind TheHorizonCalls.com, a culture and travel blog exploring travel, reflection, and becoming.

She is co-writing "The Come Up" with her husband, Marlon, a book on real pathways to financial freedom and leaving a roadmap for those who come after us. A Louisiana Afro-Creole from New Orleans, she is an Air Force veteran and retired civil servant. She and Marlon are parents of three, grandparents of two, and live in Florida.
