American Michelangelo - A Docufilm

American Michelangelo, an educational documentary project by filmmaker Antonella Ciancio rediscovers the incredible life and artistic work of Italian-born painter Constantino Brumidi, also known as the Michelangelo of the Capitol.

This is the story of the Rome-born painter who emigrated from Italy and spent 25 years making the U.S. Capitol the most beautiful representation of the United States as a young nation. Until, after his death, he was nearly forgotten for 70 years.

We trace Brumidi’s journey from splendid Rome to the majestic halls of the U.S. Senate, and the White House.
We follow the women who dedicated their lives to rediscovering Brumidi.
