American Currents: Stories on the Fly

Stories on the Fly is a small, independent documentary-style project based in the Northwest, mainly in Montana, Idaho, Washington, and Oregon. Using fly fishing as the backdrop, we highlight voices from all walks of life, including experienced guides, lifelong anglers, first-timers, and anyone drawn to the water. All voices and interviews are completely unscripted, and many guests share their thoughts on the sport’s history and how fishing styles and techniques have changed over time.
We travel to some of the Northwest’s most iconic rivers: the Clearwater River, known for its steelhead runs; the Missouri River in Montana, recognized for its calm beauty and strong trout fishery; the Snake, which cuts through Hells Canyon; and the Salmon River, rich with history and tradition. From sturgeon on heavy-duty gear to dry flies, wet flies, streamers, nymphs, and spey fishing for steelhead, we capture the full world of fishing. Thanks for watching. Fish on!
