Águas Profundas · Brazilian Folk Horror

Short horror films from Brazilian folklore. A new one every week.
Every story starts from an old record, written down by the people who heard it: Barbosa Rodrigues on the Solimões (1890), Couto de Magalhães (1876), a São Paulo newspaper survey (1917). The source stays open: work, year and excerpt in every video and on the site.

The story belongs to those who told it: Indigenous peoples, river communities, caboclos. We tell it as a scene, the way the record tells it. When the record stops, we say it stopped.

Images, animation and the narration voice are made with AI from each scene. The research and the line-by-line source checking are ours. Narrated in Portuguese; turn on auto-translated captions for English.

To fall asleep to: legends read slowly, in their own playlist.
