African American Arts Institute

The African American Arts Institute (AAAI) at Indiana University Bloomington is the nation's first and only university program dedicated to promoting and preserving African American culture through performance, education, creative activity, research, and outreach. Since 1974, the AAAI has provided opportunities for thousands of students to explore their talents in performance, teaching, and arts management, while pursuing degrees across the university's expansive curriculum. The AAAI is made up of three performing ensembles—African American Choral Ensemble, African American Dance Company, and IU Soul Revue—offered as courses in IU's Department of African American and African Studies.
