The D&H in S Scale

Welcome to my D&H themed S Scale layout. It is a fictional layout based upon a concept that the D&H inherited the former Penn Central Elmira Branch as a concession to the Conrail Merger. The Elmira Branch was abandoned between Elmira, NY and Williamsport, PA in its entirety in 1972 following the devastation caused by Hurricane Agnes. My version assumes that the railroad was rebuilt by PC and survived until Conrail’s day one. At that point, it became redundant to the the newly formed carrier and was conveyed to the D&H. It now serves as a through route from Buffalo to Baltimore. Using trackage rights on the Northeast Corridor, the D&H can connect with RF&P’s Potomac Yard in Northern Virginia providing head-to-head competition to Conrail.
