My "flying guru" and good friend, Pierre Gevaux has been the first paraglider pilot in the world to have taken off above an 8000 meters - Gasherbrum II - in Pakistan on July 11th 1985.

  • @featheredflyer ;-) whatch out the date, at this time paragliding was done using parachute. the aim was not to "dive" but to fly already.

  • Even if it is a sky diving rig you have to remember that's how paragliding started. You think it's easier to footlaunch a skydiving rig off an 8000m mountain?

  • While that is an awsome feat. I hate to be a stickler for detail, it was not a paraglider.

It was a sky diveing rig. Much difference.
