Basara was a bit of a douche bag, but at the same time. He was great with MUSIC.

@Uldihaa I can totally agre with this. I had my issues with the snow, but loved the music. So different from what had been done and so different from anything done since.

@Canti654 That's how alot of shows were done at the time this was around, lots of episodes, villian of the week, check. It took a while to grow on me but when it did I enjoyed every episode, made me feel like I was back in the 90s. Dynamite was good too.

@FireBomberBassist I'll admit I only watched it after finishing the superb Macross Frontier, so I was a little spoiled going in.
That said, I felt like M7 had some great ideas that would have been serviced better by a shorter run. The series' 50 episodes stretched the plot out too thin in many places, having to resort to throwaway plots and "villain of the week" episodes that served no purpose in the overall story. I actually found Dynamite 7 better than M7 for that reason.
While there is a lot about Macross 7 I disliked (escape pods in the fighters, magical music), the music itself was never one of them.
This show's '80s style rock is something I still enjoy.

All the music in this show was so badass that it even overcame the fact that Basara was the biggest douce in anime history and made a great show.
